History of Mazda

Mazda has a long and interesting history. It dates back to 1920 when it started as the Toyo Cork Kogyo Company in Hiroshima, Japan. However, at the time, the company produced tools, not vehicles. The company didn't start producing vehicles until 1931 when the company started to manufacture the Mazda-Go auto-rickshaw, which was basically part motorcycle, part rickshaw.

While Toyo Kogyo (a name it switched to in 1927) continued to produce vehicles using the "Mazda" name, it didn't completely take on the title for its company until 1984. From that point on, every vehicle manufactured by the company was known as a Mazda.

For a time, to help with vehicle distribution and to mutually reach new markets, Mazda partnered with Ford beginning in 1974. That partnership continued through 2015, although the Ford Motor Company does own about two percent of the company's shares. Now, Mazda has an agreement with Toyota. With this agreement, Toyota can use Mazda's fuel-efficient SkyActiv diesel and gas engine tech. In return, Mazda uses hybrid engines from Toyota.

Mazda Quality and Design

Mazda is one of the most awarded and recognized auto manufacturers in the world. While it does not produce as many vehicles as other companies like General Motors or Toyota, the company has received a number of awards of recognition in 2019 alone. These awards are for the design of the company's vehicles, the durability, and the overall quality of the build as well.

Most recently, in November of 2019, U.S. News and World Report named Mazda the best car brand in the United States. With many manufacturers now trimming down or even eliminating cars from their lineup, Mazda has remained strong and continues to produce some of the best in the world. The combination of the company's dedication to the vehicle category and the overall quality of all the cars produced by Mazda helped lead to this award. In fact, this is the second year in a row for the award. U.S. News and World Report named Mazda, the best car brand in the U.S. back in November 2018 as well.

The Mazda3 recently received the GAAMA's Biggest Bang For Your Buck award, given by the Greater Atlanta Automotive Media Association. The group voted the all-new Mazda3 as the biggest bang for your buck vehicle that was revealed at the 2019 Atlanta Auto Show.

Motorweek selected the 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata as the Driver's Choice Award for the top convertible available on the market. This marks the second year in a row the MX-5 received this award from Motorweek.

Car and Driver annually put out a list of the "10 Best" in every category. For the 2019 calendar year, the company placed both the Mazda CX-5 and the Mazda CX-9 on the list for the 10 Best Trucks and SUVs.

As for the overall design and style of the vehicles produced by Mazda, Kelley Blue Book recognized the company and its design team as the Best Performance Brand and Best Car Styling Brand. These two individual awards from Kelley Blue Book helps establish the overall quality and design of Mazda above what other manufacturers are putting out.

Mazda's Car and SUV Lineup

You will find a wide range of cars, crossovers, and SUVs on the lot here at Colonial Motor Mart. There is a size and design for every need. Whether you are looking for a five-seat sedan or you need an SUV with more room for weekend getaways, Mazda has you covered.

If you want something that's small or sporty, you'll instantly fall in love with the MX-5. It's a great car that hugs the road and really lets you enjoy the driving experience. Of course, if you want something larger that comes with more seating and cargo room, the Mazda6 and Mazda3 are two of the company's best selling sedans. And if you're interested in an SUV look but don't need a larger crossover or full-size SUV, the Mazda3 does have a hatchback option. Of course, make sure to come back and check out the full write-ups on all the 2020 models, which Mazda is still rolling out. The company likes to make sure each vehicle has a proper unveiling, so while it has showcased a number of 2020 models, more are still on the way.

If you're interested in an SUV, Mazda has you covered there as well. The Mazda CX-3 is one of the most budget-friendly SUVs on the market, so when you want a lot for a little, this is the vehicle to go with. There's also the CX-5 and the CX-9, both of which provide a number of exciting features. Plus, there are a few new crossover SUVs Mazda has in store for the 2020 model year.

The 2020 Mazda CX-3

The first SUV to consider when you head to your Mazda dealer is the 2020 CX-3, which is a subcompact model. It is worth noting that while there are not huge changes to the 2020 model, there were major updates for 2019, so there is still plenty here to get excited about. You get a 146 hp engine in the CX-3, which adds a surprising amount of power and sportiness to this vehicle and makes it a lot of fun to drive.

Three different trims are available for the 2020 Mazda CX-3, starting with the Sport, then the Touring, and finally, the Grand Touring. No matter which model you choose, you will get fantastic features inside and out that make it one of the best subcompact SUVs on the road. All-wheel drive is available for all three trims, so you do not have to sacrifice the option for improved handling and control on the road if you want to go with the starting trim.

The 2020 Mazda CX-30

The amazing new 2020 Mazda CX-30 is a small crossover SUV that delivers on everything you could want from this type of vehicle. It offers seating for up to 5 people and has a spacious interior that lets you take full advantage of its SUV functionality without requiring a massive amount of space in your life. Plus, you can get more than 45 cu.ft. of cargo space inside the CX-30, which gives you tremendous room for luggage, bags from shopping, or anything else you need to take around with you.

There are four different trims available for the 2020 CX-30, and all feature a 186 hp engine for excellent speed and overall performance. The standard trim has LED headlights and an 8-inch infotainment display, while the Select includes active safety features and 18-inch wheels. The Preferred trim gives you a 12-speaker Bose Premium sound system and heated front seats, while the Premium adds leather-trimmed seating and a power liftgate.

The 2020 Mazda CX-5

If you want more power and interior space than you can get with the Mazda CX-30, then you should consider the CX-5: another great, small crossover that you will find at our Mazda dealership. There are two different engines available with the CX-5, depending on which trim you choose. The first few trims include a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that provides up to 187 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque for a fun and responsive driving experience. If you want even more power, then the higher trims include a turbo version of the same engine, which can deliver up to 250 hp and up to 320 lb-ft of torque when gassed up with 93 octane premium unleaded.

You get nearly 60 cu.ft. of interior cargo space in the CX-5 when the rear seats are folded, with seating for up to 5 passengers and a great selection of premium features across its five trims. The standard Sport model includes active safety features like a lane departure warning system, while the Touring adds rear privacy glass and dual-zone automatic climate control. The Grand Touring trim includes a Bose 10-speaker audio system and paddle shifters, while the Grand Touring Reserve gives you the more powerful engine and all-wheel drive. With the available Signature trim, you get all of this plus Nappa leather-trimmed seats and layered wood in the interior.

The 2020 Mazda CX-9

Finally, among SUVs that you will find at your Mazda dealer, there is the 2020 Mazda CX-9, which is a larger model with three rows of seating. With seating for up to 7 people and more than 71 cu.ft. of interior cargo space available, the CX-9 is the perfect choice if you have a larger family or big group of friends to get around town. All models of the 2020 CX-9 come with a 2.5L Turbo 4-cylinder engine that offers up to 250 hp and up to 320 lb-ft of torque for excellent performance and a truly fun driving experience.

The standard Sport trim of the 2020 Mazda CX-9 features heated front seats and radar cruise control with available all-wheel drive. The Touring trim includes leather-trimmed seats and a power rear liftgate, while the Grand Touring gives you 20-inch wheels and includes Mazda Navigation. With the Signature trim, you get I-Active all-wheel drive included, along with Nappa leather details and 2nd-row captain’s chairs for a more luxurious passenger experience.

The 2020 Mazda3

If you are looking for a car at our Mazda dealership, rather than an SUV, then the 2020 Mazda3 is a great place to start. The Mazda3 is a four-door vehicle that delivers surprising power and performance thanks to a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that offers up to 186 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque to give you a more responsive and thrilling ride than you might expect at first. The Mazda3 is gorgeous inside and out and offers you a lot of great options to choose from – including either a standard sedan or a hatchback version.

There are four trims available for the sedan, with a standard trim that includes an 8-inch infotainment display, lane departure warning, and a driver attention alert. The Select trim adds on a rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, and 18-inch wheels. If you choose the Preferred trim, then you get an 8-way power driver’s seat with memory feature, heated front seats, and a Bose 12-speaker audio system. Finally, the Premium includes leather seats, an active driving display that projects information onto the windshield, and a power sliding-glass moonroof.

The hatchback version gives you most of the same features, though you get significantly more cargo storage space at the expense of slightly lower estimated gas mileage. Only three trims are available for the hatchback, starting with a standard version with 18-inch wheels, a rear cross traffic alert, and blind spot monitoring. The available Preferred trim features the same heated front seats, 8-way power driver’s seat, and 12-speaker Bose sound system. Similarly, the Premium trim has leather seats, an active driving display, and the power moonroof.

The 2020 Mazda6

If you want a four-door sedan with a startling amount of power, then check out the 2020 Mazda6. This is a five-passenger sedan with two different engines available, so you can get the right amount of power for what you need. The standard engine is a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that delivers up to 187 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque. There is also a Turbo version of that engine available, which offers up to 250 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque for an incredible driving experience.

Five trims are offered for the Mazda6, including the standard Sport trim with included active safety features and LED auto-leveling headlights. The Touring trim features 19-inch wheels and keyless entry and start, while the Grand Touring gives you the more powerful engine and a Bose 11-speaker sound system. The Grand Touring Reserve has automatic folding side mirrors and an active driving display that projects information onto the windshield, while the Signature trim includes ventilated Nappa-leather front seats.

The 2020 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Not much information is yet available about the 2020 Mazda Miata that will be for sale here in the US. A limited 30th Anniversary edition was offered, but all of those models have already been pre-purchased. Little has been said about the standard Miata that you will find at our Mazda dealership this year, but we know it will continue the fine tradition of style, power, and luxury that the Miata name has been synonymous with for three decades.
